Link Baiting, The Good, The Pretty Good and The Unforgiving.
By Geronimo Rubio

As Featured On Ezine Articles

Hey everyone. First I would like to say thank you to all my readers and visitors. We will all come together and make it happen for all of us in the long run, again thank you for all your support. OK, now on to the subject for today.Let’s talk about “Link Baiting” and what it is exactly.

Link baiting is, in simple terms, having a article or blog post worthy of being posted on another website by the owner of that website. As this happens, your link gets spread around from site to site and the readers of that site get a closer look at you and have found respect and trust in you because someone they trust have added you to their site. This is considered “Viral” marketing. It works well in forums or places where discussions are taking place about different topics or subjects. Link Baiting is sort of like “Fishing” (And I mean at the lake, not phishing peoples info). There are what we consider several different types of “Hooks” or “Lures” that make link baiting possible. This kind of marketing is also good to promote any product or niche you have a campaign on as well as Brand yourself along with it. This will eventually have a good or even great impact on your affiliate marketing business. So let me explain each one in detail: The Hooks:

The first “Hook” is called the “News Hook”:
If you read an article or news bulletin and do your research about that article and can disprove it ethically with facts and being respectful in doing so, then you can become an Authority Figure on the subject, thus, gaining trust and respect of your readers. Also I need to mention another form of “News Hook”. If you were to find an article or several that relate to your niche, make sure they are interesting and catch the attention of your readers and be the first to link to them, this also is a way to brand yourself and promote your niche, your affiliate marketing business.

The second “Hook” is called ‘Resource Hook”
This “Hook” is an exceptional one. The “Resource Hook” is a helpful article, post or resource that you, yourself write or give freely that helps your readers along in their life, whether it’s a recommended program, free software or tools or a list of other resources you have gathered yourself. As long as it is useful and helpful to your readers and possible consumers, and you give it freely, this will instantly boost your credibility and reputation amongst them. And you feel good to be able to help out others. And you will receive links back to your article and your site. Like I always say, “Giving is generosity that all people should practice”.

The third ‘Hook” is called “Humor Hook”
This hook is strictly for a niche or product you may have a campaign on. Lets say through your searching or reasearching you were to come across something extremely funny that relates to your niche. Like a picture, video or even an article. Posting this up on your site could gain you popularity because they say “Laughter is the healer of the Soul”, right. So now you post it up on your site and people are happy to see that not only are you a serious business person but you also have a sense of humor and they get a kick out of it enough to link back to you and your humorous post. This is where showing your personality builds your character.

The fourth “Hook” is called “Excited or Belief Hook”
If you find something that really gets you excited, makes you feel happy or changes your life. This is a hook that is easy to promote because you believe in the product. This is my favorite “Hook” because you feel good about what you are promoting. And if you feel good it will translate into your writings, trust me. Not just that but you can talk or write about it with conviction. It is the ultimate high feeling so good about something and being able to share it with your friends, readers and everyone. Knowing that you will help people is the ultimate reward. This will get your readers excited and you will again instantly gain respect, authority, trust and build your character as a person fast.

The fifth “Hook” is called “Comment Hook”
I like this one a lot as well as number 4. This “Hook” is a BIG respect hook to the author you post a comment to, which will get you your respect back. Thay say “To Get Respect you have to Earn it”, right. Well this is the way to earn it. Now don’t go spamming blogs, post or articles just to gain popularity. There is a ethical way to do this. If they have written about a niche or subject that relates to yours and it is a good article, then kool, go ahead and leave a comment telling them why you liked their article. You can, in some cases leave a link to an article that you have written or a way to get in contact with you. But spamming your information is not a good idea. What this will do for you is gain the respect of the people and the site for which you left your comment and most likely gain their interest and the interest of their readers as well. Pretty soon you may have your links on their website posted by them. Ahhhhh, the Ethics of online marketing and affiliate marketing. Feels good, doesn’t it.

These are the five I recommend. There are two others that I don’t recommend and if you use them, us them with extreme caution.

The sixth “Hook” is called “Attacking Hook”
This “Hook” can be dangerous and hurt you along the way. This is where you accuse or try to discredit an article or post about a niche or certain subject. When doing so you tell your readers and theirs that this article or post is basically a lie and/or a scam which could cause hard feelings between you and the author of that post. If you choose to go this route, I HIGHLY recommend that you do thorough research on the subject and make sure that what you say can be justified not just by you but others. Also you may create a mob of angry bloggers that could link back to negative posts.

And the seventh “Hook” is called “Contrary Hook”
I know that all of you have heard the term “According to Contrary Belief”. In other words, what many other people may believe and have written about but are not necessarily true or with holding certain information that can be critical or misleading to the readers. Well this is a form of that but through article and post writings. This is where you become very controversial in your article or post about someone else’s article or post. Either trying to disapprove it, disagree with it or simply saying they left out to much information as if to have their readers walking around with blinders on to hide what is lurking within the walls. Again, this is also a dangerous tactic and could hurt you. They say that “Honesty is the Best policy” but they also say “Good guys/girls finish last”. Get my point. I personally don’t believe that “Good guys/girls finish last” but be cautious. Controversy can also cause hard feelings. If you choose this route again, “DO YOUR RESEARCH”.

Link baiting is one of the most successful ways to promote yourself, your niche and gain trust, respect and authority amongst all people. It will benefit your online business and boost your affiliate marketing sales 300% and more. So remember that ethics, respect and research are all KEY factors in “Link Baiting” and that it is possible to hurt yourself as well as promote yourself with this type of marketing. Good luck in all your endeavors and always keep smiling. Peace and GOD speed.

Affiliate Ranker - Comprehensive Dynamic Affiliate Directory

free web hostingHosting24.com web hosting

Hello everybody. I have a new place for all of you to check out.

Everybody knows about Commission Junction, ClickBank, Paydotcom and all the other affiliate programs out there in the World of Affiliate Marketing. Let’s talk a little bit about how they work as an Affiliate Marketer.

  1. You sign up as an affiliate to promote products on their site.
  2. You create campaigns to get links to this products, usually a landing or opt-in page.
  3. You build your website or blog as where to place these ads to promote campaigns.
  4. Then you go out and promote your site to draw traffic to those campaigns.
  5. You make sales and get paid.

Pretty simple, right. The hardest part of all this is promoting your site, selling your self and becoming an Authority Figure in the eyes of your readers so they begin to trust your opinions about products that you recommend. This my friends is the task at hand. Branding yourself!
OK. Now about these Affiliate programs. What is their job. Basically to bring NEW products to their site that will give you a variety of choices to promote a Niche that you have chosen, right. How do they make money you ask. Well let’s look at this for a minute.

  1. They usually charge the product owner a fee to submit their products.
  2. Most if not all make a commission of your hard work for processing monies paid as well.
  3. And you make a little less than expected as the end result.

Also pretty simple, right. It seems fair because they are getting you your money and they do check out the product owner to make sure it isn’t a scam to your customers…hmmm, not always. I personally was looking at a few products to promote recently. I myself (And you should too) did some research on some of these products and found quite a few to be scams. So why would a Affiliate Program trying to help you make money online allow scam products to promote on their site. Simple, they are concerned about the end result, themselves getting paid from your hard work. They don’t seem, in my opinion, to be concerned about what will happen to your reputation, your name as an Affiliate Marketer. Remember I told you about branding your name, your name is out there on all these products, and if the consumer gets scammed it is your name, not the Affiliate Program that gets hurt in the end.

Now I am not saying that all these programs work the same and I am in now way saying that the sites above that I mentioned are doing this. All I am saying is make sure about the Niche and Product you promote.

Your name is the most important item in Affiliate Marketing, because if your name is tarnished with bad products, scammed consumers and bad reviews about you, all that hard work that you have done is washed away and flushed right down the toilet. No one will trust you, your opinion or recommendation will mean squat and your business is gone. And trying to start it up again will result in disaster over and over again.

Now on to the good news. There is a site out there that has a GREAT reputation for people like you and me, the Affiliate Marketer, AffiliateRanker.com. This company does there research about the Affiliate Programs they bring to you before they allow them on their site. They don’t charge you a commission on your sales because the Product Owner pays you direct. You can sign up to their site for FREE or you don’t have to if you don’t want to and still be able to search their site for affiliate programs. One thing you can do is when you sign up for the Affiliate Program, you can let the people running the program that you were referred from Affiliate Ranker (The referring numbers/info will be in the url when you go to the affiliate site, you have to write them down because they will be gone when you click on a new page), but once again, you don’t have to.
They also have lots of kool advice on their site to help you in promoting your programs and site whether it’s about blogging or an actual web site, information is available to you.

Let me show a little bit about them here:

—————————————————————————

What is Affiliate Ranker?

At Affiliate Ranker we always strive to present you with only the top affiliate programs online. Our highest priority is - and always will be - to collect and present you with the best affiliate program for any need possible. We mainly collect the programs in three ways:

  • By searching the web ourselves - looking for what we consider to be the best affiliate programs within every niche.
  • Affiliate managers submit their programs to us.
  • Webmasters submit their favorite programs - or a two tier link to add us to their downline.

All submitted programs are carefully reviewed and, upon acceptance of our To help increase your revenue from affiliate marketing, there are many different areas you as a publisher would do well to get better in.

You, of course, need to have a basic understanding of how affiliate programs work as well as basic knowledge of HTML.

Knowing what services you need, and where to find them at a reasonable price is very important. Prices vary greatly for services such as domain registration, hosting and SEO to name a few.

A site, no matter how good, will not make a profit unless you have visitors, generally the more the merrier. Learning how to gain more visitors is crucial for any affiliate webmaster.

Getting visitors from search engines isn’t easy, but with the help of article marketing, directory submissions and other ways of gaining link popularity, you will soon discover it is far from impossible.

You shouldn’t just pick any affiliate program, you should really try to find the best program for your site. What’s best for one site, isn’t necessarily the best choice for another.

Once you get the hang of it, you should focus on how to make more visitors click your ads and how to target your visitors needs. This takes some experimenting, but it is a great way of improving your affiliate revenue.

I highly recommend this site to everyone getting involved in the World of Affiliate Marketing. I just happened across this site in my search for Affiliate Programs and was blown away by their professionalism. I myself go there all the time to find a lot of my programs. I do use the other Affiliate programs for certain products that are not listed at Affiliate Ranker.com, but I make sure I do my research about the product before I choose to promote it.

Oh, and I don’t make a commission if you go and sign up at the website. This is just information I decided to give to you because I don’t want people to promote scams out there and hurt their reputation and kill their business before it even gets started. Because I believe that their are plenty of people in the world to sell to and there is room for the few who choose to be an Affiliate Marketer like me and you.

Thank you for reading and good luck in all your endeavors. Peace and GOD speed.

This article will guide you through the main reasons why pages get listed on this index, and most importantly, how to get them out. If you have an existing site, there is a high probability that you may have pages in the supplemental index, so use this as a reference, and make sure you follow the steps outlined here.

First of all, for those of you new to this topic.
What is the Supplemental Index? Here is the short answer… Google has actually 2 indexes, on call the “Main Index” and a secondary one known as “Supplemental”. One way to verify that you are looking at a supplemental result is that you can see “Supplemental Result” in green text on the bottom line of any given Google listing.

Why do pages move from main to supplemental?
There are many obvious, and some not too obvious reasons for this, but Duplicate Content and Non-Updated are the two main ones. A “too dynamic” url, in other words, with too many variables, or a page that is to deep in the site’s structure also accounts for this. A word of advice on linking: If you are doing excessive reciprocal links, link buying/selling or linking to spammy neighborhoods… stop! Google algorithms has very low trust in the inbound and outbound links of those sites.

Solutions to get out of the supplemental index.
Now that you know what this index is and why you don’t your pages in it, I will go over ways you can get them out, and back to were they belong, the main index. I will group them in pairs as they are co-related:
1. Duplicate Content and Content Quality. All your meta tags should be unique. All pages have common elements like navigation, footer, etc. Make sure your page have enough unique content to offset these elements, and that you are providing quality with as well.
2. Dynamic URLs and Site Structure. Keep all URLs as “static” as possible. Why passing 3-4 variables if there is a simpler way? And every page should be 2-3 clicks away from the home page, as far as the site structure. Please refer to Google Best SEO Practices – Part 4.
3. Your Internal Linking and Profile. Your sitemap, which is very important component of your internal linking, should include links to all the pages on your site, and it should be linked (normally in the footer) from every page. And your site’s overall link profile directly impacts the level of trust Google gives it, and since this affects the PageTrust, less trust often translates into more supplemental pages.

Again, like I said before, make it easy on Google, and they will make it easy on you
